I am writing you to officially tender my resignation as president of the USMC Combat Helicopter Association effective Monday, October 1st, 2007. Due to personal reasons, I must step down. Our vice president, Bruce Colbert, will assume command until a new president is elected.
Representing the USMC Combat Helicopter Association and its members for the past seven years has been a wonderful experience.
To the Marines and Corpsmen of this fine organization, you have my deepest gratitude and respect for your service, support, and friendship. My best wishes are with each of you. It has truly been an honor to be in the company of such great men.
Thank you.
J.D.,
Another chapter has been written. Your sacrifices and contributions are recognized by many. It won't be easy for somebody else to emulate everything you brought to the table.
I for one admire your leadership and self-sacrificing devotion to the organization's purpose.
I wish you strength on your journey.
You know how to reach me buddy.

Fort Worth was my first reunion, and I had the honor of sharing your breakfast table on Sunday quite by chance. Our "meeting" was breif, but I attempted then to thank you for all you have done make that reunion possible for me.
The USMC Combat Helicopter Association has made it possible for me, and I imagine hundreds more, to finally come "home" and find the peace that comes from knowing that what we did back then did make a difference. Thank you, J.D., for your service and leadership from the bottom of heart.
May God's grace be with you wherever He may lead you.
God Speed!
