The Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum will host a special
screening of "An Ocean Away" on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
at the LBJ Auditorium, 2313 Red River Street, Austin, Texas. The
event is free and open to the public. Speakers include Loretta
Matocha Eiben, sister of USMC LT Donald Matocha, KIA April 5, 1968,
and film director Patrick Fries. A keynote address by LT GEN (USA
RET) Randall House will speak on the service and sacrifice of
Texans. General House was a classmate of Matocha's at Texas A&M
University. Another classmate, Mickey Batsell, an Air Force veteran,
will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Several members of Matocha's
unit will also attend. Guests are invited to come at 6:00 to visit
"The Vietnam Experience" art exhibit on temporary display in the
Johnson Museum.

"An Ocean Away" tells the story of the repatriation and return of
Donald Matocha to his Texas family 34 years after his death in
Vietnam, and the subsequent journey of his sisters and fellow Marines
to Dong Ha Mountain where he died. After a riveting account of the
doomed patrol's encounter with the enemy and heroic rescue by Marine
helicopter pilot Ron Gatewood and his crew, the group meets Nguyen
Van Loc, a Vietnamese veteran of the war who helped Americans locate
the grave where he buried Matocha in 1968. The San Antonio Express-
News calls An Ocean Away "a movie full of history and heart...one of
the most moving post-war movies ever made."
