From Ed Kufeldt
Sgt. Thomas "Sundown" Leonard, door gunner and assigned to the ordnance shop with VMO-6 in Quang Tri, is a retired mailman living in Maui, Hawaii. When the fire demolished the town of Lahaina and his apartment earlier this month he with nothing but his laptop, ran to his soft top jeep and tried to escape, but got caught in traffic and his vehicle along with others caught fire. He then left his jeep, ran and jumped over a nearby seawall into the water along with 40 plus people. After a few hours they were rescued by the Coast Guard and local Fire Department. He sustained a few burns and has nothing but a cell phone and temporary housing provided by the Red Cross. To assist Thom (his spelling) his cousin initiated a GoFundMe account.
