This seems minute as to what all the members, associates and friends have accomplished for Mike Claussen, but none-the-less, important to me, and maybe a few others who have experienced the same thing.
My present wife had a son who was a Naval Aviator. His gravesite in a local town mentions nothing of this, so I figured I would do what I could to juice it up a bit. Got a bronze "veteran" flag holder from the American Legion, and found a set of my Aviator Wings and apoxied them to his headstone.
This made a nice site, as well as a deserving one, in my mind. Well, this year, I went to the site to make sure he had a flag, I found that the bronze holder had been removed (no flag) and someone had peeled off the wings from his stone.
Go figure!
Gravesite Desecration
First of all, it is not a "minute" point at all. It is very important to all of us, as Marines, as veterans and as citizens of this great nation. The simple fact that you care and did something about it is really all that mattersand, unfortunately, is a lot more than many, many people would have done. There are "dirtbags" everywhere, but if we let them "get to us", they win.
Personally, I applaud your actions and highly respect you for them.
