There was a good story in the local paper, Parkersburg, WV, today. In 68 two Marines were injured near Danang, one lost both eyes and the other lost one eye. Both thought the other was dead.

The one that lost both eyes went to law school and was practicing in New England. The other returned to the Parkersburg area. The lawyer retired, moved to Florida, got married and moved to Parkersburg with his new wife.

2008 the VA tries to take the benefits from the one with one eye. The lawyer had started practicing again, handling veterans claims. After making an appointment, explaining his problem with the VA to the lawyer, comparing stories, they realize that they were hurt in the same incident and after more talking they realized they had been friends and both were alive.

What are odds?

Happy early Birthday

Good story

That is a good story Mike. Glad they both found each other again, and hope the lawyer was able to put the screws to the big boy, and the Vet was able to keep his Comp. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

"William and Mary to honor late Marine Lewis Puller Jr."

http://hamptonroads.com/2010/11/william-and-mary-honor-late-marine-lewis-puller-jr?cid=srch

Puller won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for his book, Fortunate Son: The Healing of a Vietnam Vet.

He died in 1994 of depression and alcohol. Most of us consider him a delayed casuality of the Vietnam War.

Life is not always fair.

Another local story

Ray, its sad the va did not believe in PTS then, and helped him. They have to a degree shaped up a bit, but we will always have problems with them on something, we the earlier patients of theirs. Sometimes it depends on looks, and how the va person feels that day. Total shame. The less we are, the more raises they get, and equipment they get. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.
