The POPASMOKERS who will man the "Hootch" at The Wall this Memorial Day weekend can use a little help.
In addition to selling bumper stickers and promoting The Association and The Marine Corps, we try to have some sort of "giveaways" for the kids (future Marines). The Recruiter in my area does all he can to give me stickers, lanyards, etc. and whatever else he can spare. But it's not enough to make sure all the kids get something.
Please, all of you near a Recruiting Office drop in and talk to the friendly Recruiter. See if he/she can give you "something" to be used at The Wall this coming Memorial Day weekend. Almost anything will do. Even a single sheet of small stickers goes a long way to putting a smile on a future Marine's face. The parents smile too. It's a win-win situation for the Association and The Marine Corps.
Please send whatever you get to me by May 18th. Snail mail is fine. If you don't have an Association Membership listing with my home address send me an e-mail at jascho@verizon.net and I'll send it to you.
Many thanks in advance for your hard work on this project and Semper Fi.

Re: Giveaways at the wall - 2012
Hi Guys:
I want to thnak all the POPASMOKERS who have so far responded to my request for "giveaways" at The Wall this Memorial Day weekend. Please let me emphasize though that we need MARINE CORPS items from the Recruiter. Manufacturer's hats, patches, (Sikorsky, Boeing Vertol, McDonnel Douglas, Lockeed, Bell) etc. don't promote the Marine Corps. Also, please send nothing from the local Army Navy Store even it is is Marine Corps related. Nothing from the VFW, Vietnam Veterans Assn., Moose Lodge, Elks Club, etc.
Please keep searching and cajoling your local Recruiter for his/her Marine Corps giveaway advertising items.
Many thanks for your hard work and Semper Fi.

Re: Giveaways at the wall - 2012
Guess this didn't happen this year ...... thanks in no part to the current administration in the WH.
How many years has it been now that the annual tent erection and service at The Wall
has been taking place?
Re: Giveaways at the wall - 2012
Mike
We were there on Saturday & Sunday. Had to remove our tent Sunday evening as we were not in compliance with the size of the tent. We have been at the Wall since 1997 during Memorial Week-end and our Birthday/Veterans Day. We will probably do November but the core groups is about ready to retire from Wall activities.
Re: Giveaways at the wall - 2012
One finds it a bit strange that that self same tent is now so
suddenly "out of spec".
I have seen the "message traffic" on this year's Memorial day
dissing of veterans, Larry.
I'm too far away (mid continent) to have made any of these
annual gatherings at The Wall, but have always been there in
spirit. And a good friend of mine (Rae Scott), has been there
many times.
