Received this information from a former HMM-263 pilot. Thought it may be of interest to some of you that are local.

S/F Gary Alls
HMM-263 '66-'67

MAG-16 Leaders

On 20 February - this coming Wednesday - the Marine Corps will pass another assault support community milestone, as we graduate the final class of CH-46E crewchiefs from the FRS. HMMT-164 and HMM-268 will sortie a large flight of Phrogs from 1000 to 1115 to commemorate the occasion. The CG will make remarks and do the winging honors with a squadron formation between 1130 and 1200. Immediately following the ceremony lunch will be served in the HMMT-164 hangar. As successors and adjacent units of the CH-46E it would be our honor to have you attend, and I would encourage you to bring former Phrog aircrew who might be interested in helping us celebrate - especially former crewchiefs.

Additionally, I must thank the VMM COs in advance for the many items of memorabilia each of you is loaning to us for the day. We have a plan to display your items proudly and to return each of them to you and your units exactly as we received them. Thank you very sincerely for your generous support.

For those of you unable to join us at Hangar 7 aboard MCAS Camp Pen on Wednesday, look for a large flight of Battle Phrogs to do a low approach at Miramar at approximately 1030 (I'll pass the specific overflight time early next week). Come out with your Marines and say hello.

Please consider joining us next week and thank you again for your support.

Phrogs Phorever!

Do they get Wings now when made crew chiefs? Are the same as the Combat Air Crew Wings which are permanent or are they only to be worn as long as they stay on flight status?
