Santa Ana/Tustin

It was still LTA Santa Ana when I was there in late '66 and again in the summer of '68.

I'm not sure when it became MCAS Tustin.

I believe that 463 was down in the south hanger.

It definitely appears that all of the concrete is gone from the
ramps in this pic from Nov 15, 2009.

I thought santa ana was the guy who attacked the alamo?

Don't know anything about santa ana, calif., if there is one.
I avoid kali-fornia (ah-nold speak). Know where lax is. Know where treasure island is (spent two days there).

Know where travis afb is... Sort of. Had to fly out of there on the way to vietnam and then 13 months later flew back there. Had to walk a bit to the building we had to enter for a military version of a luggage check; cuz if the plane had been closer to the fence we would have been hit with food garbage from a crowd of 'screaming hippies'.

Btw... I think travis afb is basically in san fran. Isn't that the home of all the left wing liberals, homosexuals and lesbians; and....

That place that speaker of the house pelosi flies to twice a week on taxpayer expense?

I DO HEAR ON THE NEWS EVERY YEAR ABOUT 'SANTA ANA' WINDS THAT BURN DOWN THE ENTIRE AREA; THEN WHEN THE RAINS COME IT TURNS INTO A GIANT MUD-SLIDE.

Unbelivable. My first FMF duty station, we had HOK's HRS's HR2S's and the all new HUS. My first job was to remove the flotation gear from one of the new HUS's (aka H-34).

My father GySgt George Deegan (he was with Crash Crew) was stationed at Santa Ana LTA back in the mid 60s before he shipped out to Viet Nam. I remember going out to the base as a little boy and getting my hair cut. We also as a family frequented the Staff club there too.

I am a Beirut Vet that served with HMM-263 on board the USS Inchon LPH-12.

I recognize it. They are walking past the H&HS Tustin Base Operations/ATC building. Just to their left would be hangar 1 where the filming is taking place...

I often see the Hangars used in TV shows and commencials.

SO many memories of that place... :^)
