Thought I'd let all of you know about Squadron Toys.
Being the Coordinator for our Bi-annual Lucky Red Lions Vietnam Gathering, we have purchased over the last few years outstanding UH-34 models with our squadron logo (very, very nice). Just spoke with John, the owner of Squadron Toys, and they are now offering naval aviator (pilot) and combat aircrew wings carved from monkey pod mahogoney, just like everyone used to get 40+ years ago in the Phillipines. We have just purchased a set of each for our next Gathering. John is now offering these at 99.00 each. This is only good until 15 December 2010. The price will then go up to 119.00 each. I believe this includes shipping. You can order at www.squadrontoys.com (just click on the wings showing). Or feel free to call John at 1-866-773-8697. These are hand-crafted in the Phillipines and imported.

Pops

Aircraft models-Carved Wings

Larry, I never was able to see the carvings from 40 plus years ago. Bet it only takes a short time for the machine to carve them out. They may hand paint them, but thats a bunch to pay. Maybe one day. Glad they are on special for awhile. I'm sure he will do a good business on them. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Carved models and wings

Larry thanks for the info on the availability of these. Been looking for a source for
quite awhile now. The prices seem pretty reasonable, it seems they were thirty bucks
or so forty odd years ago. Gone are the days of Olongapol. AHH as we reminisce.

MC Combat Air Crew wings-Woody

I had thought about it, but its always order on the computer. Unless they have a phone number you can call, I won't be getting any. The price is good, but the economy is going way down, and prices will have to as well. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

CH-46's

JJ, I was given a carved 46 at a reinion, a Fellow Pilot had won that he presented me, and My wife is forbidden to even touch it, let alone my Grand Children. There would be a(well bottom spanking all night long if they EVER got into my 46), and thats that. I value that more than anything I can think of. There will never be 'oh no, I broke your 46 honney., or Grandpa. Thats flat out cold bloded. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

On the website mentioned above, I believe John now has added a picture of the combat air crew wings. Not a great picture, but you get the idea.
J.J. I believe if you contact John, he can replace your blades for you.

Larry, I was wondering about that. These wings,46, are plastic I believe. Well the company has a sheet with their name/address, and they would have them if they ever were broken. I still have it packed from the night I got it, and will put it back together again one day, maybe soon. Two years maybe. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.
