By: North County Times -

NORTH COUNTY -- Hundreds of Marines and sailors from Camp Pendleton and Miramar Marine Corps Air Station are scheduled to return home from Iraq on today.

Members of Camp Pendleton's Combat Logistics Battalion 15 and Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 165 are slated to return this morning.

Later in the afternoon, about 250 troops from the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Miramar are due to fly in from their Iraq deployment.

Families and the news media have been invited to attend the two homecomings.

Approximately 7,000 locally based Marines and sailors from the two bases remain in Iraq, where the II Marine Expeditionary Forces based at Camp Lejeune, N.C., currently has the responsibility for security in the Anbar province west of Baghdad.
