SAN DIEGO -- Officials said at least one person has been killed in the crash of a Navy helicopter that went down about 50 miles off the coast west of Camp Pendleton.
Navy Cmdr. Jack Hanzlik said it's not known if three other people on board survived.
Hanzlik said the MH-60S chopper, commonly known as a Seahawk, crashed at 2:45 p.m. Friday while on a training mission off the USS Bonhomme Richard amphibious assault craft.
Search-and-rescue efforts are under way.
The names and ranks of those aboard have not been released.
