Bruce,

While I don't remember the exact dates, I had the priviledge of serving under your father in VMGR-152. Your Dad was a great CO whose firm but tolerant leadership enabled some of the more colorful pilots in the squadron, myself included, to survive their antics and go to have successful careers.

If memory serves (and it may not) your Dad lost his life in an R5D accident some years later. Those of us who had the pleasure of serving with him were greatly saddened to hear the news.

Permit me to suggest that you contact the Marine Corps Aviation Association (address at http://www.flymcaa.org/ ) to get the adddress of Major Bud Yount, USMC (Ret). He was, as I recall, your Dad's XO and should be able to tell you more about him.

Semper Fi.

Tom Hewes
Col, USMC (Ret)

Thanks Tom

Tom. hey thanks for the kind words of my father.. i wish i could have gotton to know him better befor he was takin from us in 68.. ive been told some storys about ny dad and they were pretty funny.. one in mind was he had been drinking and somewere along the way he passed out..well a preist was passin a coffin and notice my dad layin in it,, he knew my dad and could see he was breathing still. well he woke him up and told him to find a better place to rest in peace...lol. but sadly he and 20 other officers lives were takin from us all on jan 10 1968 over Mt tobin Navada city in ca.. from the reports it said the deicers were not working and the wings were frozin. resulting the plane not being able to climb over the Mountain.. they slamed into it and slid back down to the bottom of about 7,900 ft resulting in a total loss of all lives .. most on the plane were officers..once again thanks for your reply
yours truly Bruce Priddy
