Apparently a bunker was manned by several Marines near Dog Patch when the VC attacked one night. After the attack, the Marines were found with a smile on their faces and their throats cut. Rumor has it they were smoking weed when they were attacked and never knew it. I think of these rumors now and then and wonder ......I went to war and never fired my weapon in anger. I locked and loaded several times during perimeter duty after rocket attacks but was never involved in a firefight. In a way, I thank God I never did, in another way I wish I saw action or at least fired my weapon.
