I am looking for anyone that would possibly remember my dad. George Wayne Bartholomaeus IV (Bart). I have tried to discuss his time in country, but I do not want to push. He was originally on the USS Enterprise at the end of 65, as an aircraft mechanic. After the loss of the squadron that he worked with, he was transferred in country. From 66 to 68 he was attached to the Corp. and put on the UH-1 in Da Nang as a crew chief and gunner. He tells me that his squadron was HS-51,3rd. Marine Division although he doesn't really remember which squadron. He has told me that he flew escort missions, amongst others along the Mekong Delta, and the A Shau valley. This is all the info that I really know, but I would like to find some one that would possibly know him. I asked him in the past, that if I found anyone that knew him, would he like to talk to them. He said yes, and I think it would really help him. He doesn't talk to much about his time in country. I am a veteran, but not combat. So I do not even begin to act like I understand. So I think it would be good for him to talk to an old buddy. Adding after the fact, one of the door gunners that he flew with was Pete Mitchell, and one of the pilots that he flew with, was 1stLT Barnes. Who was lost when they went down near Da Nang.
GOD BLESS, and THANK YOU ALL!
Mike
