At 1430H on 27 June 1967 a UH-34D , YZ-81/ 149366 , from the LUCKY RED LIONS of HMM-363 encountered heavy fire while entering a Medevac zone at XD 802409.
The Helicopter received three hits causing limited damage.
The Crew Chief, LCpl James J. Pessey Jr (2168877) was hit in the lower left leg.
The gunner, LCpl Richard E.Faust Jr. ( 2121699) was hit in the shoulder.
Both were evacuated to Alfa Med at Phu Bai.
