FYI

The USS Hornet Museum is working hard on restoring one of our birds.

Janelle Sahr, one of the volunteers keeps us updated on its progress and I have kept a mirror page of the pictures for viewing for those interested you may go here to see them. A larger view is available if you click on the smaller pictures.

You will be pleased to know that one of our birds (HMM-363) is a static display on the hangar deck of the USS Hornet, a floating museum, at the former Alameda Naval Air Station! Whom ever is in charge of the re-working is doing a remarkable job considering the plane is missing parts galore! I am trying to find ou the parties involved!

Might try here!

Ray,

you might go here to see some of the pictures taken while it was being restored for the display http://www.brookt.com/althornetpics.html and you might contact Janelle Sahr listed at the bottom of the page..... she was one of the volunteers.

H-34 buno 150553

I recently discovered the H-34 onboard the aircraft carrier Hornet at the former NAS alameda (NGZ). It is looking good in its HMM-363 colors and Red Lion logo on its nose. I am very proud of all the guys that donated time, energy and money to make this happen.
Check out the museum on line:
uss-hornet.org.

Today I attended volunteer training so that im can become involved
for the Museum. Next week I attend Docent training.

Soon, when the helicopter is dedicated to the museum, I get to be the one who cuts the ribbon! YEA!

I will look out for "our" helicopter! I fully intend to create a mini museum within the Hornet for HMM-363. If anyone wants to send any photos, artifacts or any other pertinent information/materiel, I will see to it that it is well taken care of.

I encourage anyone who can to send more donations to the Hornet museum. The dot-com bust, 9/11 and a recent hotel strike in San Fran have put a chill on tourism in the area and the Museum can use any donations it can get.

Thanks a lot.
