Semper Fi,

For all of those of us who have been discussing the idea of an off year squadron reunion, I want to say Thank You so much for your support and input. I have come to conclusion that trying to do this at this time, it is just not feasible. I know this is a great disappointment to some as it is to me, but I think I was putting the grunts in front of the tanks. Over the next few months, I hope to be reaching out for volunteers who can help set this up and make it work for perhaps the year 2009. I know it seems a long way off but I feel it will take at least a couple years to do this right. Once again, I apologize.

Thanks Larry

Larry,

I don't think there should be any problems now that there is a longer lead time and people can plan for it. The idea is fine to get the Squadron to re-assemble instead of disintegrate leaving just a small core of people. I appreciate all the effort that you have put in trying to contact everyone and get the motivation going. It sounds like you have made some progress. I hope more people respond to this post to help you get a sense of how many are interested.

Update for '07 get together from Larry Powell

A gathering of HMM-363 Vietnam Veterans the weekend of August 10, 2007 at Pensacola, Florida. Please note, this is NOT a reunion, but a gathering of the most courageous men I have ever known. There will be no covers, no T-shirts or any other paraphenalia sold at this event. There will be no catered dinners, and above all, no speeches. Anyone wishing to attend this event must take their own initiative to acquire rooms, meals and transportation. We will locate a pivot point to which we will be able to gather, toss a few, and allow the sea stories to flow. If you believe you are interested in attending what may be a once in a lifetime affair, and you served with HMM-363 in Vietnam, you are welcome. A list of hotels will be made available at a later date. Would appreciate your thoughts on this and any constructive ideas. Those interested may contact the following people:
Hank Ampran at 1-909-797-8462
Larry Powell at 1-727-785-2114 (larrypowell@mindspring.com)

Semper Fi,
Larry "Pops" Powell

Thanks Larry for the update

Attention All Squadron Members Past and Present

Update:

Hank Amparan and Larry Powell are working very hard to put this together talking to everyone we have contact information on. It would be nice if you have not done so in the past but to update your contact information of Name, Address, Phone and email by sending it or calling and giving it to Hank or Larry. You can also send it to me I am still working on the member database.

Remember this is for ALL 363 personnel even if you or some of your old buddies think their primary squadron is something else. This is a casual get together next year. Larry has already got a green light from the Chamber of Commerce something like "Come on down we would be glad to have you"....there are other things in the works, but as I said this is not going to be a big production... you get there on your own or with a buddy no pre registration stuff... Larry is working on getting information to post or send out with Hotel/Motel information... that info is to come.

Look forward to seeing everyone.... and if there is someone you might drive by (if you are driving), pick up a brother Marine... you could share the expenses.

S/F
