This is reference to popasmoke member Richard J. Colby (HMM-263 - 1967).
Dick is in the VA hospital in Syracuse, NY battling pneumonia. This is a serious
fight for him since he suffers from cronic emphysema. Dick has been on the lung
transplant list for over a year. I received an email from him a few weeks ago and he had just been released from the hospital after a severe case of bronchitis.
Dick and his wife, Kathy, could use your prayers and good wishes.
I recently found some slides I took in 1968 at a New River air show. Dick and Kathy went with my family, and are in several of the slides. I would love to send copies to them and get back in touch with them both. Dick and I were fairly close in 'Nam and at New River. Do you have an address?

Steve,
You might want to contact Gordon Mello also. He has e-mailed quite a few members of our squadron regarding Dick.
We all wish him a fast and safe recovery.

Dick has a new email address, it's now
The other information that George provided is correct.
FYI - Dick's mother promised me she would keep me posted and I'll pass on any changes that I receive.
Semper Fi,
Paul
Thanks all for the updated info. I am having the slides printed this week and will be sending all I can find to Rick and Kathy. It's fitting that this coming Sunday is Easter, and I hope you all will keep them in your prayers.

Update on Dick Colby
After a serious bout with a respiratory infection, Dick is once again at home. Dick had been confined to the hospital for a prolonged period of time, and had been kept in a drug induced coma while being treated for the infection. This was done to reduce the stress on his respiratory and cardiac systems. It appears to have worked.
If everyone has a few minutes I am sure he would appreciate a get well email or maybe even a telephone call...315-733-8602

Gordo
