To all of my fellow squadron members...hello.
Just thought I would pass this info on. For those members who have met our son Gareth, and those that have not, I am asking for a few prayers and maybe some words of encouragement...he departs for Iraq on June 4.
As some of you know, he is serving in a heavy weapons company. They are the only fresh and unused weapons company the Corps had not shipped to Iraq or Afghanistan...lots of tired people in the Corps these days.
Needless to say, this is not an easy time for me and Melissa. Hard to imagine that thirty-nine years later I would have to see our son shipping out to war.
Anyway, if anyone has the opportunity, and can drop him a note, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hope all is well with everyone, looking forward to Texas...be there!

Just saw the notice on the Notam board about Gareth shipping out to the sandbox in June. I'll be with Rick Gebel and Guy Lewis (the Aussie who was
top man in our helo class at New River.) this coming weekend; rest assured that I will pass the word.
Tell Gareth that we will be with him the whole time he is in harms way, as he is in our prayers.
Call me to talk, any time.
Love ya Gordie,

Gordo,
Needless to say that your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure that this is harder on you and Mellisa than your son. We all thought we were invincible when we first arrived in country and I can still see Gareth's dad walking around Marble Mountian with that swagger. I'll make sure that I drop him a line this weekend.
Take care and see you and your better half in Fort Worth !!
