I met Larry Zok, his boss Chris and a pair of very sharp Army active duty Lt. Cols, Wayne Cherry and Glen xxx (sorry Glenn) in Daytona for a few days of general motorcycle mania! Went on a couple of good, long rides and really enjoyed the good fellowship and the good company. Wish we had more of you there. Really missed Frenchy and Darrell and their humor, though....

Daytona!!??

We even go there from Tampa!! But since we have knees made of other than human material we ride on three wheels now a day,,, that was after 40+ years of two..

Always a lot of fun and good looks over there.

An "A" model??? I thought we were in a UH-34D ๐Ÿ™‚ sir??? EM-19 HMM-261,,, fly it and watch it...

"A" Model?

Mike,
You were in HMM-265 in 65-66, you KNOW what I mean by "A" models! We were the weaker (no less had working) older brothers to the newer and more powerful CH-46D's! When the DASC centers were established in Phu Bai and Dong Ha, they made up CH-46 loads with no difference between "A's and "D"'s loads! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Of course when we in HMM-165 would show up for resupply duty in our trusty Alphas, and could not lift the 4000 lb. externals they had prepared for "CH-46" loads, we made SURE that in the future that they knew the difference in load capabilities! In fact they sent pilots to become OIC's of these operations, usually senior 1/Lt.s or junior Capt.s that knew the score, to prevent such stupid deals from happening. Worked, too!

HMM-265 Not

Sorry Joe, I was in HMM-261 65/66, started in Danang, went to Marble Mt (1st squadron over there) left to go afloat for 90 day just before the base got hit... Then starts to blur but Ky-ha was in there and Chu-Lai, we had the UH NOT CH and it was 34 not 46, when I returned in 67/68 I was in H&MS in Phu Bai, I am sure I hear ya fly over..

Never been a 46 off the ground, just took my FIRST flight in a Huey in Branson 2005 at the Welcome Home...

34/46

Mike,
My mistake, Sir! I misread your bio.
Sorry we missed you in Branson, the Rotorhead Riders had a branch for the first one in 2005, as well. Myself, Larry Zok(HMM-262), Darrell Tygart (HMM-362/HMM-165), Warren McDonald (HMM-262). We went for a few NICE rides in the Missouri countryside, in addition to Daytona 2006/7and Reno 2004. Looking forward to D.C. 2008!
