I felt compelled to repost the blurb about this reunion because it originally read as if the event is strictly Ugly Angels. The owner of the UH34D, YL37 urged me to invite any Marine and their family members who love helicopters. Please not that the hotel is the Embassy Suites. So far, we have a number of squadrons attending so you won't feel like a wallflower among a bunch of Uglies. You must register with me to attend.

UH34D Helicopter Mini-Reunion, Tulsa, Oklahoma

The subject mini-reunion is set for the weekend of October 4, 2013. The details of the reunion are as follows:

The cost to attend this mini-reunion is $40.00 per person. This fee covers the Friday evening reception dinner at the Post 946 Elks Lodge (about 2 miles from the hotel) and incidental costs such as postage, toilets, and making copies of paperwork.

We asked Mr. Hail to calculate what amount of fees will offset his fuel, oil and insurance costs for each interested attendee to take a ride and that cost is set at $100.00 per rider. At present, his insurance no longer permits attendees to actually fly the aircraft carrying passengers. If a few flights can be arranged with empty cabins, then some former pilots may get to take the stick, but Mr. Hail will have to set the cost accordingly for that. We should have that information made available a month or so before the reunion.

Parking at the Hail’s property is very limited. We are counting on our attendees to carpool to the fullest extent. If you are renting a car, please don’t drive to Inola with empty seats in your car. Specific details will be posted at the Embassy Suites beginning Friday afternoon on the mezzanine area.

The Embassy Suites has been more than kind and flexible with us in planning this event. I want to urge you all to keep this in mind, especially for whatever you chose for your Saturday evening dinner, so stick with us at the hotel and maximize your visiting time with your old combat comrades.

Examples:
If a couple is attending, and both wish to ride YL37, the check amount should be $280.
If a couple is attending, and only one is riding YL37, the check amount should be $180.

The deal with the hotel is tied to the number of attendees, so even if you do not intend to attend the Friday evening reception, you must still pay the $40.00 registration fee per attendee.

Meal and helicopter ride tickets will be issued at registration Friday by reunion staff on the mezzanine.

Friday, Oct. 4, 2013:

• Pick up reunion update information, reception dinner tickets and helicopter ride pass chits from reunion staff until 6:00 pm Friday.
• Reception dinner at Elks Lodge, Post 946, near the hotel from 6:00pm to ???pm honoring Mr. & Mrs. Hail. Tickets to the Elks Lodge reception dinner will be required for admittance, so be sure to hit the mezzanine once you get checked in to get your tickets.
• Hangout/mixer on the mezzanine from 8:00pm to 10:00pm

Saturday, Oct. 5:

• Breakfast is complimentary at the Embassy Suites
• Caravan/carpool to Inola to depart Embassy Suites at 9:00am
• Helicopter rides begin at 10:00am
• Mobile burgers/hotdogs truck at the hanger for lunch, buy your own chow, so bring your own CASH!
• Dinner at the Embassy Suites on your own after the helicopter rides ~6:00pm
• Hangout/mixer on the mezzanine after dinner

Sunday, Oct. 6:

• Breakfast is complimentary at the Embassy Suites
• 9:30 brief memorial in breakfast area

Please remember the hotel’s shuttle only seats 15 so if you drive your car or lease one, be sure to take some passengers with you!

This is a bare bones operation so ya’ll are generally responsible for your own transportation to the reception and to the helicopter event, so plan accordingly.
Don’t forget to tell the hotel personnel how old you are and hope for an additional discount.
