I have been asked by many members whether there will be a “Change of Command” e-mail or posting. After careful consideration I, along with my adviser (Bride), have decided that an assumption of command notice is warranted if for no other reason than to formally relieve Bruce Colbert of his duties.
Bruce, you are relieved Sir and well done on Reunion 2008.
Our association has been in existence since 1985 when Roger Herman mustered a few individuals for a long Las Vegas weekend and the result was the formation of our association. Since inception there have been four Presidents: Roger, Al Barbour, JD Barber, and Bruce Colbert. Each of these Marines have made tremendous contributions in both time and effort in sustaining and growing our organization, both while serving as president as well as after their tour.
To these individuals, and past and current Board of Director members, I offer my gratitude and appreciation for all you have done.
As the fifth president of the USMC/Combat Helicopter Association I have but two goals:
1st. is to do everything in my power to follow our mission statement- “This Corporation shall preserve and promote the camaraderie of those U.S. Marine Corps Pilots, aircrewmen and support personnel who were associated with Marine Helicopters/Tilt Rotor Acft during combat.
2nd. not to screw it up.
Well done and well said.
Slick, er, ah, Colonel, Sir! wrote: 2nd. not to screw it up.
This is definately the Slick I know and respect.
Change of Command
Allan,
You are correct! Thanks to all past Presidents and thanks to Slick for accepting the responsibility! We appreciate all you have done, and all you are about to do, gentlemen!
Assumption of Command
Slick,
I think you will do a great job and you really don't need to worry about your 2nd Goal: "...not to screw it up..." You have an outstanduing Board (even Zok is OK - Grin) and excellent Past-Presidents from whom to draw upon for their experience.
Keep your turns up!!
