This is unofficial, but John Maurer tells me that he is laying the groundwork for a June 2011 reunion in the Texas Hill Country, based in Fredericksburg. A visit to the Nimitz museum and many other interesting activities will be planned.
John will announce the details when he has them worked out.
My wife and I have reserved early June for this, and my teammate from the 1968 Tet offensive will attend with his wife. Jim and Glenda Chally spent two nights with us last week, and we had a great time.
One of you guys, piloting a CH-46 landed in a hot LZ in February 1968 to take out a platoon of wounded Korean Marines. You hald already taken fire but you landed. My teammate, Jim Chally helped a Korean carry a stretcher on board. While on board, your machine gunner took another round that glanced off the back of his flac jacket and you pulled up 10 feet, hovered a bit, took more fire, and then departed with Jim on board. Nobody knew where he was for a bit. The followup medevac to retreive the remainder of our wounded wasn't until dusk, when another crew braved the LZ once again with only a campfire lit in the drizzle as a guide. Thank you for saving our asses.

This reunion has been rescheduled as follows:

This is to inform of the 2011 1ANG reunion dates for planning purposes. A number of guys have stated they want to get together this year before the year ends. My plans for earlier in the year fell through. There will be another mailing to all ANG addresses I have, so you will probably get another.
The 2011 1st ANGLICO reunion is now scheduled for September 22-23-24 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel phone 1-877-609-6086 at 4900 Sinclair Road Columbus, OH 43229. The room rate will be $69.00 for from one to four persons, and there will be the customary booze and munchies stocked suite for the Squad Bay/Officer's Mess meeting room as we have had at past years at this location. A good bar and fine restaurant are on site. The special room rates are available only through the above number--call it and ask for reservations and the ANGLICO reunion rate. I have only so far asked for a hold on 20 rooms, so if you're going, please let me know, so I'll know ASAP if I need more.
By the way, that cheaper rate hotel across the street burned down, and hasn't been replaced. At least none of us were there when it happened.

NOTE: I realize that the ANGLICO Association is having their reunion at Quantico in August, as I provided them with all my contact info from the past three years of us being there. I have been invited to pay two years association dues and to attend. See you there?
