maybe this ain't the right place,but I think you should have had to serve in the military in order to hold public office, 'specially POTUS. course I always thought it would be better if all officers in the military had to be NCOs 1st !:p

I do so agree with you Lurch. They need the law to apply when a kid graduated from high school. 2 years in which-ever Service desired, BUT it is to be a MUST that they do. No more of this, yea, huh, na, what,rain on you crap garbage. They should have to learn it, and stay in, even if its in the Brig, for the full 2 years. Then it would be a must for public office, even being mayor, or chief water boy. No there are no guts for it. They certainly do it in Israel for sure. Everyone, even little girls. I believe it would cut down on Illegals a whole bunch. Before they could get citizenship, 4 years in the U.S, Marine Corps, Minimum. Still say, No congress has no guts to mandate such a thing.

I never did think they should of stop the draft (the way it was) maybe some changes was needed so ALL would go at some point. So many young people don't know what they want to do or maybe they don't have the money or grades to go . At least everyone would have some idea what our Country is about and know what it means to be Free.. JJ, I feel they should get the graduation paper in their hand, and have to get on that Bus the very next day for 2-4 years in which ever service they are put in. They should have no choice. Wether they have the money or not, didn't cost me a penney to go, as it was paid for. I quit school so didn't have the grades, got them later. and I did learn to respect people, myself, and our Country. Thats why they should have to go. Mandatory, wether they like it or not. If they don't go, deportation to the coldest part of the world. Period wether they like it or not. Thats what I'd have the guts to make them do. Period. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

If I was in charge as said before, they wouldn't have to worry about a party until they were civilian again. That includes the ones their daddies had play football so they could get a knee injury, and not have to go to the service. I know 4 that did it so they wouldn't be able to pass the physical. I am not sure I understand how this new page works or even where I am.

I am glad our DHS boss is inspecting other countries borders. Just wish we could get her to inspect, and do something about OURS. Been trying to keep track of happenings around the world and the pirates got my attention and kept it! Brought to mind - "from the halls of Montezuma, and to the shores of Tripoli", - and now the pirates of Mogadishu that killed 4 Americans and at the last count, about 600+ prisoners. And then I see the Marine Corps getting bogged down in wars that the Army was trained to do, - ours was to knock down the doors and hold the door open for at least 6 months, until the army could come in. Many can see us doing army type work, not that we can't do it (we need the combat experience) and then the Corps asking for more expensive equipment to keep us up there with the big boys, - pretty soon they are going to see that the USA doesn't need another expensive type army unit and will start thinking again that the Corps needs to be done away with!:confused:
The Corps should be planning for a combat landing onto the "shores of Mogadishu" and straightening out their crap, and keep doing what we were trained to do, with great thought and planning, and not be restricted in the use of our combat equipment (artillery, Tanks, and Air assets). A lot, lot, lot should be done to keep the inhabitants from having to make a living from piracy. It would take time and keep "others" seeing that the Corps is doing what it is trained to do.:) Semper Fidelis
