The Vietnamese solders that were transported to outposts typically each had a "sock" of rice around their necks and whatever else they could hold onto until they got out of the aircraft. It was common to carry a pig or two in woven baskets. The way I remember it, and I can't remember who the crew was, the pig got out of his basket and did a swan dive out of the open door onto the runway. An approaching aircraft had to be waved away while a crew cleaned up a pig on the runway.
