In 1956-1959 I was in MABS-17 1st MAW Iwakuni Supply. Since I left in 1959 rumors have that MABS-17 was moved to Okinawa and later maybe to Danang. Anyone know the scuttlebutt on this?
I'm looking for (then USMC 1959 ranks) 2nd Lt. Breen and Sgts.: Sullivan, Nelson and Ed Masters. All were caucasiun. Sully had a large red birthmark on his face. Nelly was red headed with lots and lots of freckles. Ed Masters was about 5 ft. 10" approximately. All were married to Japanese women.
They would know me as Cpl., later Sgt., Andrew Peters. I worked in the office MOS 3071. I would appreciate any info on them or what happened to MABS-17 so I can further trace them down as it is as if we never existed after ROK and Iwakuni.
Thanks & Semper Fi - Andrew πŸ™‚

MABS-17 was based at Iwakuni before and after deploying to Vietnam. MABS-17 served in RVN from Sept 1966 to Aug 1970 and was based at Da Nang. The squadron returned to Iwakuni, but later moved to Camp Foster, Okinawa in 1979. All the MABS squadrons were deactivated in 1986 and absorbed into the new Marine Wing Support Squadrons (MWSS).
