My name is Adam Karlin. My dad, Wayne Karlin, was USMC combat aircrew from 66-67 in and around Marble Mountain and the DMZ.
I'm going to be traveling to Asia on July 20, and plan to spend some time in Vietnam. I'd like, if possible, to retrace my dad's combat operations, but while I know what cities he was close to (mainly Hue and Da Nang) I'm having a hard time pinpointing where he flew in the countryside. I've scrounged up a list of his missions, and was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find maps or some kind of visual aid to pinpoint where he flew in country.
He participated in:
Operation Hastings, HMM-164, Jul '66-Aug '66
Operations Prairie and Jay, HMM-161, Sep '66-Nov '66
Operations Cleveland, Lincoln and Tuscaloosa, HMM-263, Jan '67-Feb '67
Those were his main combat missions. If someone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Adam Karlin
