Anybody help identify the H-34 sent in from a woman whose husband passed this year and she's going through some of his photos trying to put some sort of story together on his time in Vietnam. He never talked about it.

Here's her e-mail:

Dear Wally,

My husband was army. In May of 1968 the Marines fought a battle at Dong Ha near the DMZ ..or maybe end of April...around this same area were villages called My Loc and Nhi Ha to name a few.The Magnificent Bastards is a book written by Keith Nolan about the joint effort of the Marines and Army(Americal Division the 196th which was fought against NVA regulars(?) from 5/1/68 to 5/15/68 very close to the DMZ at Nhi Ha etc.. and it was a pretty violent thing.

My husband took this picture there I do believe at the time that they were all up there...although i cannot corroborate it. It has a developed date of 5/68. I have a few other pictures of Marine amtracs and the cua viet river...it is a fascinating story...

I only have the one picture..I am sorry that it is not good enough for you to see it well...

thanks for checking for me...

Uh-34d

The picture is rather fuzzy, but it looks like the A/C has a red turtle back. If so, that would make it an HMM-363 bird. We were based at Phu Bai during that time frame but did a lot of work in that part of the country.

It has a camo turtle back and Ugly angel logo on the pylon. It's a HMM-362 Aircraft.

Hey Marines,
It looks all of us old guys need our eyes checked . I say yellow HMM 361 , Ken says camo HMM 362 and "Crazy" says red HMM 363 . One thing we can say for sure is that it's a 34 .

HMM-361 was no longer in country in May of 1968, 362 supported the Magnificant Bastards of 2/4 during that time frame.
