I know I can find an answer here. My father-in-law is near death, and he is a W.W.II veteran. Who do I contact to get a flag for his casket? I have tried the VFW and the American Legion and have not got an answer from them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My father-in-law was also a WWII Vet Don't know the status of your funeral home but when he passed away the funeral home here took care of everything I have no idea what channels they went through but the flag was there along with the either the VFW or America Legion (don't remember which)to present it to my mother-in-law I would suggest you contact the funeral home for more info

May I suggest your local Marine Corps league, when my Father passed away they took care of the flag and ceremony.

Chris, contact the Recruiting Station of the respective service your Father-in-law was in. They should be able to provide.....

I have been involved with numerous military funerals. The funeral director usually handles getting the flag for the casket along with notifying the firing squad and burial detail. If you have any problems - contact your local Veterans Administration or Recruiters. The family has enough to do at this difficult time.
Good luck and God Speed
