After more than 50 years, Navy Enlisted Combat Aircrewmen are finally receiving some well-deserved recognition. A Roll of Honor for Enlisted Combat Aircrewmen was dedicated on board Yorktown at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum on 10 October 1996.

Under the guiding hands of Admirals "Jig Dog" Ramage and Jim Flately, a committee has been formed to nominate worthy candidates for a Combat Aircrewmen's Roll of Honor on the hangar deck of the Yorktown Memorial at Patriots Point, S.C. You can appreciate that the task of tracing these heroic actions, many of which took place more than 50 years ago, is difficult at best, and they are looking for your help.

Many carrier and squadron associations have within their ranks veterans with first-hand knowledge of outstanding acts of courage by enlisted CACs, and this vital information is needed. Anyone with such knowledge please complete the nominating form (at the end of this section) and send it to the address below.

The guidelines are simple: the candidate must be enlisted, the experience or experiences must have occurred in combat, and the act must be distinctive. The nominating form must be accompanied by some documentation e.g. DD214 (or Navpers 553) listing awards, or combat flight logs and newspaper accounts. If available, photos of the nominee, preferably during the time of the action are requested.

There is no limiting time frame; World War II through the Gulf War inclusive. The candidates may have flown in carrier, patrol or helicopter squadrons, and all enlisted Navy, Marine and Coast Guard personnel are eligible.
