His sister is adamant that he served in Desert Storm (she says HMLA-267, but they were part of HMM-164's composite squadron at that time). HQMC denies it and it does not show up on his DD-214. He died last year and his sister is trying to get everything straightened out for his daughter. Any and all help would be appreciated. Please send me a pm that I can forward to his sister. Thanks

I was with HMLA-267 from 1989 to 1992 and "detached" to HMM-164 as part of the 13th MEU-SOC from June of 90 to April of 91 serving in the Gulf aboard the USS Okinawa.
I know the name "TOP Soemer" but I can't recall the face... A picture would likely trigger my recollection and I'm sure I'd be able to place him aboard ship if he were there too.

Walter - YIPPEEE! Finally someone from the 164! I just sent you a private message because I'm not sure how to upload a photo and I'm on my laptop.
