FYI

The UH-344D was 65.7 feet long and 56 feet wide with the Main Rotor spread and the Aft Pylon in Flight Position.

She was just 37 Feet long and 14 feet wide once the Main Rotor Blades were folded and the Aft Pylon was stowed.

Question if I may: Isn't that 14 feet wide on the straight leg bird while the bent legs were only 12 feet wide? I flew both and I seem to remember the late D's had the straight legs to widen the wheel base to help counter ground resonance onboard ship. Joe HMM-263 66-67

Joe

I would not dispute what you say . It has been over 33 years for me.

Fortunately, we have a few very qualified 34 experts and I will defer to them to answer the question correctly.

Joe & Bill thank you very much.

the original question I received was what size the 34D was folded. As usual more impute has given us additional information.

You have both been of great assistance.

I have a Paraplegic friend from Europe trying to computer construct the U.S.S. Iwo Jima with HMM-363 aboard and he will be parking Aircraft in the slash next to the island. He will now included both types of Landing gear.

BRAVO ZULU to you both!
