I know we had some 147xxx Buro numbers I was in HMM-261 in 1965/66 Danang/Marble Mt./Ky Ha, and a host of other places,, I will ask some of the guys that I do not see in this thread if anyone has any info... I seem to remember 147395 for some reason...

I flew 15 hours in 147151 between March and September 1963. The aircraft was assigned to HMM-163 and we were operating off the USS Princeton and in and out of Cubi Point, Philippines.

If you look at photo #4415 it shows 147151 as EM-5 with HMM-261.
My guess is that the photo was taken at Danang between June and Oct 1963.
The crew chief was Jimmy Tucker.

The comment in the "remarks" column for EM-6 "Shot Down" is somebodies idea of a joke.

HMM-261 was in WestPac from early June 1963 to June 1964. We didn't have any A/C shot down while operating from Danang or the USS Iwo Jima.
However, we did have an A/C crash in the Philippines returning from an RON liberty run. Killing 6 pilots and the crew chief.

In Oct 1963 MABS-16 Shufly Sub Unit 2 lost (12 deaths) the storey by David Hugel, I was with a 47 3rd recon Bn unit who worked out of DaNang we went in to take the bodys out, Don't know if you new about this or new there was a recon unit there from April 1963, We all so took over the security of the base, and went out to some of the 5th special forces base camps did some jobe's for them.
