Think I flew in it!

I wouldn' be surprised to find out tat that aircraft was in HML-167 in the late 60's early 70's. Was stationed at Chu Li in 69 next to several Army helo units. When they got a bird shot up or shot down seems like they got a new one to replace it. We on the other hand got all excited about the new bird that came in.....new paint and patches anyway! Seems like metal shops motto was We've done so much with so little for so long.....the only things we can't do is put wheels on a miscarage or weld the crack of dawn.

Do we have the number of that bird? If so I'll check my log book.

151266, and 151267 were both assigned to HML-267 Camp Pendleton, CA in the August-November 1969 time frame. Flew my last flight with HML-267 24 November '69 in 151266 with Major Childress before shipping out for 'nam in December '69.

George,

You seem to have the reference connections for checking out the facts, so I'll ask this favor of you. Are the BUNO's for the first UH-1E's correctly stated here? I would like to know for my own reference. I was a member of VMO-1 when we first received the new UH-1E during Feb '64. I was also one of the first few pilots to get checked out in them. My log book shows me flying a/c 151269 through 151277, less -75 and -76. Maybe I just never flew -266, -7, or -8 but it seems strange that the flight schedule never hooked me up with them.

Thanks for all your interesting readings and input on so many topics.

Don

First USMC UH-1E

George,

I was in VMO-1 with Don Reichert at the time the first UH-1E was received. The bureau no. of that aircraft was 151269. The only UH-1E flight recorded in my logbook was in that aircraft on 5 March, 1964.
