to me
I need to know how the hard landing system worked on a CH 46D.
I know we always pulled the circuit breakers.

Where was the accelerometer? (or inertia switch).
What G load set it off?

Am writing a book about "those times" circa 1969-69 and would like to be accurate.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Phrog questions - HELP

Reference NATOPS Flight Manual CH-46D/F, UH-46D 1 October 1975 through interem change number 33:

Section I Part 2 page 1-116

"The automaticically actuated inertia switch is provided to energize the cabin dome lights in the event of a crash landing...

...is located on the left stub wing and will connect the cabin dome light circuit to the battery when subjected to 3 1/2 (+ /- 1/2) g;s.

A normally on, momentary off toggle switch mounged on the cabin dome light control panel (fig 1-15)... provides for a reset"

Figure 1-15 is a "Typical Main Distribition Panel and Junctin Box..." The figure shows a sub-panel for the cabin dome light reset set switch. It also shows a sub-panel with a circuit breaker for "lights, cabin, dome."

Understandably, the manual does not show a procedure to disengage the switch. Since it is connected to the battery bus, it is possible that it may not be disengaged. On the other hand, it is possible that the circuit runs through the breaker that protects the dome lights. In that case, pulling the breaker would disengage the switch.
