Re: help! need info on my uh-1 s/n 1806
Passed thru the Army Base at Bien Hoa in Oct 67. Saw the markings on choppers--Sqd was the "Playboys" You can probably get more info on your craft on the VNHP ASSOC website, mostly Army pilots

Re: help! need info on my uh-1 s/n 1806
Looking at photos: the aircraft is either an Army UH-1C, or a Marine UH-1E looking at the aircraft they would look the same. Inside they are a little different; for example the Marine helicopter would have a rotor brake. An Army bird would not. The first two numbers 66 would be the year the aircraft was built. All Navy/Marine aircraft will have a six digit serial number. A check of my log book has only 3 aircraft that even come close: 151853, 151857, and 151858 all 3 were assigned to HML-267 in 1969. Look above the right pilots seat; is there a rotor brake? If not I'd say this aircraft is an Army "C" model.

Hi Dave,
From what you tell us, the plate on the sliding door pillar, gives you the Bell manufacturers serial number and 1806 was built as a UH-1C with the US Army serial 66-15078.
You can view its service life at

There is also a picture of it in 1978 at
