Can anyone give me any history on this aircraft. I am looking to do some armor art on her.

I was the crewchief on that aircraft in HMM-263 in Vietnam in
Oct 70- Feb 71. It's side number was EG-11.

154817 was accepted on charge on the 9th of April 1968.
Taken on charge with HMM-263 at Santa Ana on the 14th of June 1968.
Later at Phu Bai/ Marble Mountain.
Taken on charge by HMM-262 at Kaneohe on the 19th of January 1971.
To NARF North Island for overhaul on the 11th of April 1972.
Taken on charge by the US Navy with HC-3 at North Island on the 5th of January 1973.

Thanks Sid,
I was crewing it when it was taken from me and sent to 262. At the time, if I remember correctly, 262 was possibly going to stay in country while 263 & 364 would be leaving. They were taking the best aircraft from both squadrons that were leaving and giving them to 262.
I got an old D model that I think was a hanger queen. I got it flying, but with the lack of up to date radios I would only be able to fly admin and resupply missions. No Recon or Medevac. I was also starting to get very short in country, so I quit flying. I ended up the QA inspector for the Metal Shop until I rotated in April.
I have a paperback book someplace that shows the aircraft with Navy markings dropping SEALS out of the back.
It was my understanding that when the V-22 didn't go into service as planned, the Marine Corps got some of their 46's back. 154817 being one of them. That sound right?

it's been at HMM(T)-164 since I have been there. I've crewed it since sometime in 2003. It's at NADEP Cherry Point, NC right now. I wanted to paint some art on the armor when it gets back. Thanks guys...
CH-46E is currently at NADEP Cherry Point finishing up Rework. I saw it today in the Paint hanger it is being painted and I will weigh it on Wednesday.
Then it will return to flight test to finish its test flights and return to the Squadron. I can't recall what it's squadron is. I will look at the log book tomorrow morning and report back tomorrow night.

Dennis,
Can you send me a picture of her when you get her back?

Kinda neat you getting reaquainted with EG-11 once again.....Wish I could find YW-11, but the "alphas" weren't in the mix to keep running, I guess.
I gotta ask, how did you manage to "quit flying", and end up in the metal shop?? We couldn't just quit if we were qualified Crew Chiefs, since we had some flying that weren't quite qualified "on paper". I would think that the Line Chief would have a fit to lose a Mech, especially one good enough to be a Crew Chief, whether he flew or not.
