How do I get permission to use content from POPASMOKE on my website?
My father flew Marine helicopters in combat, do I qualify to join your association?
If your father flew helicopters in the Marine Corps, yes, you qualify to join our association. “Regular membership" is open to all who have served with a helicopter/tilt rotor squadron in combat. Associate membership (same rights and privileges as regular) is open to all others who have an interest Marine Aviation.
I’d like to ask your membership for some help obtaining eyewitness accounts for a specific incident in which a relative was killed in Vietnam, what’s the best way to do that?

If I fill out the online “FNG" form, does that automatically make me a member of the Association?
No it doesn’t. You become a member of the Association only after we receive your annual dues payment. Once payment is received, your membership information is entered in the master database, and you will start receiving the Association newsletter.
How can I make a donation to POPASMOKE?
All donations are appreciated. You can make a one-time or recurring donation here. Donations go toward operating funds or scholarships.

I used to be a member but have let my dues lapse, how do I sign back up?
To renew your membership, there are two options:
1. Print out FNG Form, fill it out, and mail with check.
2. Go to sign-up page, sign in, and select membership type.

I forgot my password! How can I request it?
Go to the member sign-in page and enter your email address or username to receive your password reset link.
How do I notify the association of my new e-mail address?
Members can update their information in their profile here. You must be logged in.
Can I get my own personal email address with popasmoke.com?

What were the qualifications to be awarded combat aircrew wings?
Combat Aircrew Wings were issued to Enlisted Marines and Corpsmen that were specified as CREW MEMBERS ON A MISSION by the squadron after 21 flights over hostile territory. The three gold stars were awarded for 3 STRIKE missions (actual action against the enemy)(could be medevac in hostile territory, recon insertion or extraction, gunship crewchief or gunner, etc. 21 missions and 3 strikes. Then it went into the individual Marine’s squadron record jacket so he could wear it permanently. Otherwise it could only be worn when he was attached to a squadron. see also “Evolution of Naval Wings“
How do I submit photos to be added to the POPASMOKE website?
In order to upload photos, you must be logged in. Once logged in, you will see a link to upload photos under each of the existing galleries. At the bottom of the photos page you will also see a link to create your own album. If you click on that, you will create a new album under “Member Albums".
Photos I’ve submitted aren’t credited to me. Why?
