Larry, it seems our history together is long. I was the co-pilot on that mission, the pilot was Bill Jones also known as The Big Kid (TBK). It was a pretty hot mission, Thoung Duc was taking fire from the hills and the valley to the North and West, upper right of picture #3, and possibly from the Tennis Courts and the Arizona. If I am not mistaken we ran 2-3 sorties in to the airfield there. Most memorable, was on one when we were unloading I heard someone yelp, when I looked back either you or the 1st mech had been hit on the leg by a spent round and were holding it up. What a souvenir and what luck! Didn't even break skin, just stung momentarily. I think we received a single mission Air Medal out of that one. Good pictures, Larry. I think I may have one of the airstrip. As to the move from the 60s to the 50s and back to the 60s I was told that we were flying into our richochets from the 50s. Perhaps we were coming too fast, not sure. -Submitted by: Bill Beardall [bbeardall@earthlink.net] 2008-07-14

When I first got to 463(68) we had 60s and I had a old 45 cal.grease gun hanging close to the ramp when I left 463 In Nov.69(18mo.in country) and we had 50s mounted on all the birds for the gunner & first Mech and I had a M60 hanging on a strap back by thr ramp. Looks like they had a draw back in weapons -Submitted by: john parks [1jopa@comcast.net] 2006-08-27
