i SEVED AT THIS MORTUARY FROM JANUARY TO DECEMBER 1970. I BELIEVE THERE WAS AGENT ORANGE STORED IN BARRELS OR DRUMS ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THIS MORTUARY. I DO RECALL BARRELS BEING THERE. PERHAPS THERE IS SOME ONE OUT THERE ESPECIALLY WHO SERVED THERE IN THE MORTUARY WHO REMEMBER THOSE BARRELS. I REMBERER SOMEONE SAYING THAT THOSE BARREL CONTAIN TOXIC CHEMICALS AND THIS WAS NOT GOOD. I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF THOSE COMMENTS AT THAT TIME BUT IT IS A MAJOR CONCERN OF MINE AT AGE 61. PLEASE E-MAIL ME: CHALSIMP@BELLSOUTH.NET IF YOU CAN RECALL BARRELS WITH YELLOW BANDS BEING THERE ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THIS MORTUARY SITTING IN A CORNER NEXT TO THE DANANG AIR FIELD. CARDELL DYE 400 WINSLOW WAY COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA 29229 (803) 419-9921 YES PLEASE E-MAIL ME THIS PHOTO AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS PHOTO. -Submitted by: CAEDELL DYE [CHALSIMP@BELLSOUTH.COM] 2011-04-03

The mortuary is one place I sure remember, the 366th SPS at Da Nang had a post across and about 200 feet away, down and across the street from that facility. I can sure remember the constant arrivals to the mortuary within my view from that post. That was during 1968 into early1969. -Submitted by: Lawrence J. I was a aerial photo interpreter in 1967 assigned to drive personnel each day to the Danang air field from III MAF HQ. On the way back one morning I had to stop the jeep as a forklift with aluminum coffins crossed the road to the airfield from the mortuary. The morning sun gleamed off the coffins held high by the arms of the forklift. That was one poignant and noble moment I'll never forget. -Submitted by: Peter Smith [camphorn66@aol.com] 2010-02-04

I remember flying into Danang late at night from the Mekong Delta. I was there to escort the remains of my freind Lcpl Dave Duranceau. I had walked from the flight line to the mortuary. It was very dark and misty night. The events of that night are for ever in my mind. -Submitted by: Bob Lamarre [drgunner996@yahoo.com] 2009-04-03

I don't know if this photo was taken at cmed at freedom hill or not, but if it is, a partner and I were sent to emergency repair a refer that went down on a hot july day. We repaired the refer and the division sgt/maj gave us a case of beer. It was a very humbling job. -Submitted by: robert turek [bobtjarhead8@msn.com] 2008-02-10

My brother (PFC Gary Sooter) was KIA during Operation Utah March 5, 1966. We have been trying to locate the mortuary where he would have been taken. Is this the mortuary where they were processed before being sent to the States? Thank you for any help you can provide.
