YT-13 Crew, Dong Ha Aug 67
Kneeling:Lt Bob Paterson and Lt Bob Godwin. I do not recall the names of the crew chief and gunner. HMM-164's YT-13 was hit in the revetments at Dong Ha during a rocket attack in Aug 1967. I believe we brought the remaining piece back to Phu Bai where it hung over one of the shop hatches.
Comment by: Sam Beamon on Mar 1, 2006 03:24 PM
The Crewchief name is Sgt. Doug Sanders. I lost some of my gear (including a personal 25 cal. automatic pistol) when this happened. Lt. Godwin and I were hooch mates at Phu Bi where HMM 164 was based at this time. I guess Bob and I did look something alike, although , I think I had a little more hair than him, especially in the front. You can see us together in photo # 2159. I just wanted to correct this error.
