Searching for my Squadron (photo 1 of 5)

Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam - probably September 30, 1969. Traveling by Jeep southbound on Highway 1 from Dong Ha to Quang Tri Air Base after R & R (rest and relaxation). The view is to the northeast. Upon my return to the air base I was shocked to discover that while on my three day R & R break (four or five days including travel time) the entire HMM-161 squadron had relocated to Phu Bai Air Facility, Thừa Thiên-Huế Province (Hue City). Before R & R I had heard nothing about a squadron relocation, which apparently was ordered by Provisional MAG 39 Command on September 23, 1969 and began four days later on the 27th.
