    LA GRANGE - Larry Benjamin Greene Sr., 63, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2011, surrounded by his family. Larry was born July 5, 1948, in Birmingham, Ala. to the late Lonzo Benjamin Greene and Sadie Loggins Greene. Larry served four years with the United States Marine Corps and completed two tours during the Vietnam War. Larry worked as a Detective Lieutenant with the Kinston Police Department and later worked at McKesson where he worked as Operations President. Larry enjoyed fishing, playing cards, Alabama football, UNC basketball and western movies. A graveside service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. from Pinelawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene Futrell officiating. Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nadine Banks Greene; four children, Larry Benjamin Greene Jr. and wife Melissa, of La Grange, Timothy Cameron Greene and wife Courtney, of Greenville, William Robert Gray III of Kinston and Dara Suzette Gray and fiancé Stephen King, of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Jessica Rouse, Matthew Rouse, Kenneth Greene and Raechel King Gray; two sisters, Sandra Greene of Warrior, Ala., Michelle Aaron and husband Willie, of Warrior, Ala.; along with his beloved canine companions, Cotton and Buddy.     Thanks for the notice and am real sorry about Greenie. I have sent out a copy of your post to the HMFIC of the HMM-262 Combat Veterans Group and have asked him to send out a mass e-mail. I was on the same op as him one day (Arizona Terr pacifier) when he took a round in his heel. I think it took off his heel. He was shot down in the LZ and my bird took over 30 rounds and ran out of fuel coming in to 1st Med Bn. Bad day all around
