Does anyone know when it stood up or when it ended? The earliest online mention I've found is January 1972. I have a command chronology from January-June 1977, so it was around at least that late.

I was in mag -36, but left in '69 long before the sub unit 2 started up. There should be a number out there that can help you. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Okay, I got a partial answer to my question from the Marine Corps Archives. According to the 1st MAW Command Chronology (July-December 1977) :

"6 July 1977 HML-367 assumed the duties of Sub Unit-2. SAR Det located at Atsugi, Japan."

"15 October 1977 Sub Unit 2, H&MS-36, NAS Atsugi, Japan, dissolved."

I was in H&MS in 67-68 in the Nam. When I rotated to El Toro, CA I was in H&MS 33. I know many of the names of the guys in Nam and El Toro.

I just trying to find some information on my DAD, he was in Nam..part of the h&ms 36 or mag 36 , most of time in states stationed in Cherry Point.

Name : Richard Charles Temple , he would have been around 40, in 1968 or 67 when he was in nam. He died one week after getting back to States.

          Thanks
          Richard B Temple
