  • Warbird Roundup on reunion Saturday

Just in case anyone is not already aware during the Reunion in Cowtown, the OV10 Association is staging what has rapidly turned into a full-scale airshow.

Popasmoke members will be admitted early at 1000 as VIP guests. We will have our own air conditioned tent right among the birds and access to the OV10 guys' ready room (air conditioned).

There will be about 80 or so active-duty pilots and crew in attendance. It will be the duty of the Popasmoke membership to treat these young Marines like royalty. Remember, you are all responsible for recruiting new and future members to Popasmoke. They are on board for a dinner on Friday night at the hangar and local auto dealerships are providing their rent cars.

This event is not something you want to miss. We plan to have at least one of every Marine Helicpter flying plus some old birds like YL137, the 34D and something they call an H13 of Korean War vintage.

This is an incredible opportunity for our members to lay hands on our own planes and take individual as well as group photos WITH your bird as a backdrop.

There will also be a full compliment of Marine fixed wing aircraft at Meacham Field. Many of the pilots and crew are also present or former Marine helomen as are a good number of the other service aircraft flying in.

The 4th MAW is fully behind this event as is the local MAG41. The brass of both will be on hand, a chance to rub elbows in the shadow of our aircraft.

We do need to hear if anyone needs special transportation as no buses or autos can get nearer than one block away. This is nothing like a regular Air Show deathmarch in the heat a half mile from the parking lot, but if you or your guests need help with the block's walk to the aircraft, please email or call and I will pass it on to the OV10 honchos.

    Fri. evening

    Men
Bill has and is on top of this and we couldn't have done it without him. The A/C will start comming Fri. and we, the line crew, will tug and tow to spots then knock off for a beer under the wings (like Phu Bi) in the old days. Those of you who want to come out and hob-nob with the crews and us snuffys, come on out. If you stay for supper then it will be $20.00 a plate but most of you have sqd. dinners to make. The dress of the day is (green towels and flip flops) or any old stuff you still got. We will have a flightsuit party later in the PM. This event is for us and Sat. is for the general public so we will be looking our best, right? No kidding, RSVP me if you plan on supper with us, so I can have enough "Beany Weanys, coat hangers, and 2.7 rocket motors. Bring Carling's Black Lable if you got it and we will pop one on the ramp of a 53 of under the wing of our Bronco's. This is a meet and greet for the flight crews that are comming in for the show.
